Presentation: The Journey Toward Customer-Centric Services in Canada
Roda McInnis Contractor is Program Manager with the Institute for Citizen-Centred Service, a not-for-profit organization created in 2005 by the three orders of government in Canada. Current responsibilities include managing two national councils – the Public Sector Service Delivery Council and the Public Sector Chief Information Officer Council, which represent senior officials responsible for service delivery and information technology/information management across Canada. She has also managed Taking Care of Business, a series of national surveys of Canadian business to research expectations and levels of satisfaction with government services. Roda holds an Honours B.A. in Political Science, an M.A. in Community and Regional Planning and has completed the Kennedy School of Government’s Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government at Harvard University.

Presentation: Civic Innovation in the City of Ottawa 
Rick Borecky is an Executive Consultant with extensive public and private sector experience, of which over 17 were at the senior management level. He is a former Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Solution Lead with IBM Canada’s Strategy and Transformation Practice. Rick has great depth of expertise in strategy development and design of multi-channel service delivery solutions for all levels of government as well as corporations with a focus to increasing customer satisfaction and accessibility to services. He has extensive project experience in eGovernment and eBusiness strategy, contact centre transformation/optimization, web channel design and implementation as well as the use of Web 2.0 approaches to evolving online channels.His experience extends to working with organizations wishing to transform their services to true Customer/Citizen Centred Service Delivery. As a subject matter expert, Mr. Borecky has guided multiple service transformation projects to help define new approaches to service delivery and the development of service networks. His work has included: Customer/Citizen Relationship Strategy; service transformation detailed planning and design; linking internet, telephone, in-person and other channels into service networks.

Information Privacy Commissioner, Government of Saskatchewan – Regina, SK

Presentation: Open Government – A Saskatchewan Perspective
Gary Dickson was appointed as Saskatchewan’s first full-time Information and Privacy Commissioner effective November 1, 2003. He was reappointed for an additional five year term effective April 1, 2009. Prior to his Saskatchewan appointment, he practiced law in Calgary, Alberta for 23 years. He then served as the Member of the Alberta Legislative Assembly for the constituency of Calgary Buffalo from 1992 to 2001. From 2001 until his Saskatchewan appointment he worked exclusively in the areas of privacy and access to information. He was directly involved in the creation, enactment and implementation of public and private sector access and privacy laws in the province of Alberta.

Presentation: The Future of Technology in Saskatchewan 
Prior to his role with SaskPower, Tom Kindred was Site Executive and Senior Vice-president of Innovation and Client Enhanced Services for MBNA Canada Bank/Bank of America. He spent over 10 years with CVETS Financial as the Executive Vice-president and CIO and 12 years in strategic and engineering positions at SaskTel. Mr. Kindred graduated from the Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School and has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electronic Information Systems Engineering. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Canadian Electrical Association Technology Committee.

Presentation: Exploiting Your Intellectual Property: To Build Fences, or Tear them Down?
Intellectual property is an important intangible business asset in our knowledge economy. Historically companies would endeavor to exclusively protect their IP assets through the patent, trademark or copyright regimes. Open source and free access licensing models have become far more common place. This talk will compare these various IP access models at an introductory level and provide a brief introduction to the terminology in this area, to provide a business understanding of the decision matrix in deciding on the right method of protecting or exploiting your IP.

Since 2007, Susan Gorges has served as CEO of SpringBoard West Innovations (SBWI). Bringing her extensive experience in the innovation sector, Gorges has been the architect of a unique commercialization model which is gaining attention across Canada. SBWI’s approach supports entrepreneurs through competitive intelligence, market research, and comprehensive advisory services. Susan serves on the Management Advisory Council of Innovation Place, the Business Advisory Council for Canadian Light Source, and the Commercialization and Innovation Council within the Conference Board of Canada. Gorges is active with the Canada’s Public Policy Forum. She assists Enterprise Saskatchewan on its Entrepreneurship Strategic Advisory Council and Science and Advanced Technology Sector team.

Rudi Loepp is the Smarter Government Solutions Executive for IBM Canada. He is responsible for assisting clients at all levels of government from municipal through to federal departments. He has worked with clients in such diverse areas as Traffic Management, Water Management, Public Safety, Social Services, Revenue Management, and cross departmental collaboration and operations. He has spent the last 25 years working with Public Sector organizations, and has a thorough understanding of how they operate.

Terry is Deloitte Canada’s Chief Innovation Officer; a member of the firm’s Global Innovation Network and also leads the firm’s Financial Services Consulting practice. 

With more than 20 years of experience, he has spent a considerable amount of time working in a variety of industries including the public sector. From an innovation perspective, Terry has led projects around the world in terms of driving innovation and more specifically has helped organizations benchmark their innovation capabilities, use innovation approaches to solve fundamental business problems, and design and implement integrated innovation programs.

Jeph Maystruck, was born and raised in Regina. Jeph’s been a marketing consultant for almost four years now and absolutely loves it. He’s been blogging since 2009, recently started a Podcast, and claims he basically lives on Twitter. He live blogged at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and has worked with some of the most amazing businesses in Regina, creating and presenting on Social Media to some of the most prestigious marketing departments in Saskatchewan.
